One Box, Everything They Need, Half the Fuss

Let's be honest: back-to-school shopping can turn into a marathon of wandering aisles, ticking boxes, and spending twice what you planned. The Helix set cuts through all that nonsense. You get 15 essential items in one go, and at £7.98 (down from £15.99), you're not taking a bath on price either. Parents buying for multiple kids will especially appreciate not having to hunt down individual compasses and protractors separately.

Buyers keep mentioning that everything fits neatly into a pencil case, which matters when your teenager's already carrying a backpack that weighs more than they do. The set includes the geometry essentials (45 and 60 degree set squares, 180 degree protractor), a self-centring compass with its own case, mechanical pencil with lead refills, two HB graphite pencils, blue and black ballpoint pens, a highlighter, ruler, sharpener, eraser, plus a timetable and maths fact sheet. That's proper coverage for maths, English, science, and most other subjects without any dead weight.

This is a straightforward collection of tools that do their job. The items feel solid enough for daily classroom use, and several buyers specifically mention durability through a full school year. The mechanical pencil comes with refills, which means you're not buying a new pen when the lead runs out. The compass has a self-centring mechanism, which is handy for keeping your circles from turning into wonky ovals. The eraser is sleeved (meaning it won't shed rubber all over the place), and the pens use oil-based ink in black and blue, which are the colours you actually need.

One honest note: a parent mentioned their son bent the metal maths set from last year, so they went with this option as a more practical mid-range choice. It's not luxury stationery, but it's built to handle what a school day throws at it. The 15cm ruler is compact, which is why some buyers note it's not a full-size option if you need something for technical drawing or larger work, but for general school use it gets the job done.

Buy this if you've got a child starting secondary school, need to replace a lost set, or are shopping for multiple kids and want to keep costs sensible. It's ideal for year 7 and year 8 students who need basic geometry and writing tools without pretension. The current discount makes it a no-brainer for parents who just want the essentials sorted before September without faffing about. Skip it if you're after premium quality items or specialist tools for art, design, or higher-level technical work. It's a practical starter kit and a solid value purchase, nothing more and nothing less.
