For once, you won't look like a cyborg from 2005

These glasses are perfect for content creators or those who want a discrete camera at their fingertips. They nail the style aspect, though the software features remain limited in certain regions.

The first wearable that does not scream 'I am a nerd'

I have spent years testing tech that makes me look like I wandered off a sci-fi set. Most smart glasses are bulky, ugly, or just plain weird. The Meta Ray-Ban glasses are the first pair that I could actually wear in public without feeling like the local neighbourhood conspiracy theorist.
They weigh about 310 grams in the box with the case, but the glasses themselves feel like standard shades. It is a genuine achievement in engineering to shove a 12MP camera, five microphones, and a battery into a classic Wayfarer frame. Spec sheet says one thing, reality says another, but here, the reality is actually quite sleek.

More than just a fashion statement

Beyond the looks, you are getting a fairly competent camera and decent open-ear audio. The five-microphone system handles wind noise better than your average phone, which is a nice touch for capturing candid moments. Voice-activated Meta AI is built-in, though how much you use that depends entirely on your tolerance for talking to your own sunglasses.
The open-ear speakers are surprisingly rich, providing a private soundtrack to your day without blocking out the world. Just remember that everyone else can technically hear what you hear if you turn the volume up to eleven. Keep it civil, please.

Is it worth the hype?

If you want to live-stream your life or just capture hands-free footage without fumbling for your phone, these are the best-looking option on the market. Skip them if you are looking for a true augmented reality heads-up display, as these are still just glorified cameras. For everyone else, they are finally a piece of wearable tech you might actually want to wear.
