The AirTag: Because Losing Stuff is So 2019
Apple’s AirTag is a tiny, expensive, and slightly sinister little disc that promises to end your lifelong struggle with misplaced keys, wallets, and dignity. Spoiler: it works shockingly well, but don’t let Apple’s marketing team hear me say that.

- Set-up is stupid easy
- Battery lasts forever(ish)
- Makes you feel like a spy

The AirTag Chronicles: Big Brother, But Make It Cute
Let’s be honest—Apple could sell a rock if they called it 'iRock' and promised 'seamless integration.' But against all odds, the AirTag isn’t a gimmick. I strapped one to my cat (don’t worry, it’s in a pet-safe holder, calm down), and now I can track his nocturnal escapades with unsettling precision. Thanks to Ultra Wideband tech, my phone literally points to his hiding spots like a digital bloodhound. It’s equal parts cool and concerning.
The setup? Hilariously simple. Unwrap the AirTag, pull the battery tab, and your iPhone practically winks at you like, 'Got it, buddy.' Within seconds, it’s named and ready to betray your lost keys’ location to Apple’s global network of devices. Yes, that’s how it works—your AirTag whispers its location to passing iPhones, which then narc on it to the cloud. Privacy folks are sweating, but hey, at least it’s encrypted-ish.
Features That Almost Justify the Price Tag
The Precision Finding feature is witchcraft. It guides you to your item with directional arrows and distance cues, like a treasure map for people who lose their phone between couch cushions. The speaker is loud enough to hear from another room, assuming your keys aren’t buried under a pile of unpaid bills. And the battery? It lasts over a year, which is longer than most of my New Year’s resolutions.
Should You Buy It? (Asking for a Friend)
If you’re deep in Apple’s ecosystem and lose stuff more often than a goldfish with amnesia, the AirTag is worth it. It’s not perfect—Apple’s refusal to include a keyring hole is peak 'sell them the solution later' energy—but it works terrifyingly well. Just maybe don’t use it to track your significant other. Unless they’re into that.
